Avidemux 2.4 gtk update#
Update 11-22-2015, 1204am US eastern: Not all software have well behaved installations or updates, and that is not Mint's fault. Although I really like Avidemux as well for some things. It would help to know why the newer update to Avidemux is so important to you? What is it that you are doing, or want to do, what are the features in the new update that you must have? There are numerous excellent Linux Video editors and multi-media converters available in addition to Avidemux. But because of this request, I exited it, and now I will use the PPA method below to update mine. I just checked mine and it is 2.5.6 and works well and was easy to install. I do not know which version you will end up with, except that it will be a newer version 2.6 something, and newer than what is in the repositories. In your case, I would remove it first and logout and log back in, before installing it using one of these methods below. Avidemux version 2.6 is available in the ways below.
Avidemux 2.4 gtk install#
Compiling is one of the last resorts to install something, but sometimes you have no choice if the software is not available in any other way. The Software Manager or Synaptic Package Manager (SPM) is always the best first method, but does not always have the most current version. If you have a choice to install software, and or an update to it, through the preferred methods, then that is the way to do it. I got no idea what to do, i'm downloading the 17.3 beta, but won't likely install it, I fear it will not resolve anything for some reason. removed finds me updated versions of avidemux's cli and the GTK version of avidemux, which is very much inferior.

Why would updates break my previous one, is it because I self compiled it? (I don't feel masochist enough tonight to do so again so no way. It seems incredibly difficult to find an amd64 deb for avidemux-qt 2.6.x that doesn't demand things that would break LM 17.2 (at first I tried and well, it asked for libc6 2.4 and this is running libc6 2.19, no way am I messing with that.Īnother one I found through a PPA and goes : sudo apt-get install avidemux 2.6-qtĭepends: libstdc++6 (>= 4.9) but 4.8.4-2ubuntu1~14.04 is to be installed (but can't do half of what I wanna do with Avidemux). I still had it, I don't use it that often, but when I went and tried to use it a month ago, it wouldn't turn on at all, the old 2.5.6 or whatever still plays well.
